“My client wanted something new and something old for this project. The new was to be something that hasn’t been seen on the Gold Coast, a Cafe in a shed in the country. The old is the shed. An old farm shed that used to house machinery for a diary farm was sitting on the boundary and had to be moved.”

Won a State Award for Commercial buildings up to $5m for the cafe at the Ecovillage in currumbin valley @pastureandco_ . Much credit goes to Rita from @vida.design.studio for her amazing interior design and also Peter Aubort from @groundcurrumbin for coming up with the concept and seeing it through to completion. A great team effort ending in a great and very popular result!

I designed “The Copper House” 14 years ago in

I designed “The Copper House” 14 years ago in The Ecovillage. It has concrete water tanks under the master bedroom and living rooms which are hydronically heated in winter. Magnificent views over Currumbin Creek and parkland it won 2012 ABODE National Runner Up for Best Sustainable House.

It is naturally ventilate and has generous eaves overhangs making sure the house is comfortable in both winter and summer. The owners are selling now with @raywhitetugun.elanora

A very solar efficient design using passive solar design principles, like extra thick insulation, orientation and wide overhangs combined with the benefits of modern technology of double glazed uPVC windows and mechanical ventilation systems. Balancing nature… 🍃

Picked up another award for the Palm Beach Mid Century Project. This time it went to state level (all of Queensland), very happy as the competition was tough!
